The Movie Club Podcast #3: Escape From New York and The Last Man on Earth
Hey guys, as promised, episode #3 of The Movie Club Podcast is now online and ready for consumption. This is our “Post-Apocalyptic Christmas” episode, where we get together with the usual suspects to discuss John Carpenter’s Escape From New York and The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price. As I’m sure we’re all aware, Jay is primed and ready to talk about John Carpenter anytime and anywhere, but The Last Man on Earth turned out to be quite an educational flick for all of us, not just because it is the first film taken from Richard Matheson’s book I Am Legend (Will Smith’s new movie of the same name is actually the third) but also because it really could be called the first “living dead” zombie movie ever made. Head over to the Movie Club Podcast website now and renew your club membership for another month (so to speak)! A poll for suggested movies for episode #5 will also be online sometime this weekend.

have you ever considered this? “Reed Farrington’s Movie Club.” Makes it sound a little more important…
Posted by paulm on December 15th, 2007I’m embarrassed to admit that I have seen neither of these films. Though I am downloading Last Man On Earth as I write.
Posted by Rusty James on December 15th, 2007Did you guys talk about Escape From LA as well?
It did enter into the conversation a bit, although we didn’t all watch it prior to the podcast.
Posted by Sean on December 15th, 2007I surely will enjoy this one (more than the previous one) I watched both films in the past 6 months so I’ll be able to recollect the subject matter quite a bit.
Thanks!
Posted by Julien on December 15th, 2007I’m a huge fan of “The Last Man on Earth”, and I just rewatched “The Omega Man”, so I can’t wait to listen to this one.

Posted by deadpaul on December 16th, 2007I’ve heard that Romero was inspired by TLMOE to create “Night of the Living Dead.” You can tell right away by the look of both films.
