New Cast and KITT Unveiled for NBC’s Knight Rider TV Movie
There still seems to be a lot of confusion over the two competing Knight Rider remake projects that are in the works, but one of them is forging ahead with some major announcements this week, while the other is currently stalled out. Series creator Glen Larson has been working on a big screen adaptation with The Weinstein Company for a few years now, and because of his involvement, his version is the one that most serious Knight Rider fans seem committed to. However, it looks like NBC are going to be first out of the gate with their new “unofficial” modernization of Knight Rider in a two-hour TV movie that will guest star David Hasselhoff reprising his role as Michael Knight. My guess is that regardless of how good this TV movie ends up being (and considering how quickly it’s being thrown together, I don’t have high hopes), it will probably put the kibosh on Larson’s movie.
Over at NBC Studios yesterday, they held a press event where the new KITT car was unveiled, along with the principal cast members for the movie. The flick focuses on Mike Tracer, estranged son of Michael Knight (played by Justin Bruening), who is “a bitter former Army Ranger and failed race car driver” (nevermind the fact that he looks way too young for such a back story). Other characters include KITT creator Charles Graiman (Bruce Davison), and his daughter Sarah (Deanna Russo) — Mike’s love interest. Then there’s pesky FBI agent Carrie Ruvai (Sydney Tamiia Poitier) who always gets in the way! I saved the best part for last though: the voice of KITT is being provided by none other than former Arrested Development star Will Arnett! This makes me wonder how much comic relief they’re aiming for here (hopefully a lot). The new KITT is a Ford Mustang Shelby apparently, as opposed to the original Trans Am… very controversial! I’m not much of a car guy so I really could care less, but I suppose it is an important detail for a show like Knight Rider. Follow the link below to see a handful of photos of the cast members and the new wheels. Get those PVRs ready… Knight Rider premieres on Sun. February 17th at 9 pm EST.

Brutal.
It sounded interesting until I saw the Mustang. So, is knightrider supposed to be a middle aged owner of a construction company that can finally afford his “dream car” for $35,000 and can turn right and merge on the highway without using his blinkers?
They should’ve used an M5. That thing is already the closest thing to a batmobile.

Posted by Captain N on December 13th, 2007Yeah, I would’ve liked to see the original voice of K.I.T.T. come back. Still, Arnet is an interesting choice. He made the “Don’t” trailer work, I’m sure he can pull this off.
TURBO BOOST!
