Possession Trailer Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar

I’ve never been a huge fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar, but with the career choices she’s been making lately, it’s gotta be tough for anyone to call themselves a fan. Ever since The Grudge, she’s become the go-to actress for middle of the road horror-thrillers. Oh sure, there’s her performance in Southland Tales (which the majority of us haven’t had a chance to see yet) and there’s the upcoming crime drama The Air I Breathe, but she’s really starting to pigeonhole herself here. In fact, it’s gotten so bad that when I read about the new trailer for Possession hitting the web this week, I couldn’t remember if I had already seen it or not. The basic plot in this movie is that her husband and his brother get in an near-fatal accident, and when the brother wakes up, he seems to have the memories of her husband. Lee Pace (aka the guy from Pushing Daisies) stars as her brother-in-law. I can’t say it looks like anything particularly interesting, although directors Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist previously helmed the Swedish film Den Osynlige (which was based on the same novel as David Goyer’s The Invisible), and the Oscar-nominated short Victor. Possession hits theatres on February 29th; check out the trailer below.

  1. Meh. Looks alright. Sort of reminds me of last month’s “Awake.”

Gellar was great in Buffy; then that’s about the extent of it. Southland Tales was ridiculously not good. Her character was minimal, but tolerable… oh yeah and hot.

We’ll see. This could be a fun popcorn movie one night.

  2. The idea here seems pretty interesting, but the film does not. The fact that it’s being associated with The Ring and The Grudge doesn’t help, either.

  3. This movie never even came out in theatres! I wanted to watch it ever since I watched the preview. Why wasn’t this movie in theatres or play public anywhere??
