John Singleton to Direct The A-Team?
We’ve been hearing for years about the possibility of a feature film based on the popular 80’s TV series The A-Team. To me, it seemed always like it was going to be lumped in with many other 80’s properties such as Knight Rider, Magnum P.I. and MacGyver — all of which have been touted as possible movies, but no one seems to be in any hurry to produce them. Well this week it seems that we have our first indication that an A-Team movie is moving forward. According to Latino Review, a director has signed on with 20th Century Fox and it is none other than John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood, Shaft, Four Brothers).
All things considered, Singleton is a pretty decent choice. Although Shaft wasn’t the greatest movie in the world, he proved that he can modernize something while still having some fun with it. Apparently the new A-Team will be updated from the Vietnam era to today’s political and economic climate (ie. they’ll probably be Desert Storm vets instead). The good news is, series creator Stephen J. Cannell promises that people may actually die in this movie, as opposed to the TV show where virtually every bullet missed its mark! Now to get the casting rumour mill started… who would you like to see in this movie? Should they still consider Mr. T for the part of B.A. Baracus?

The real question is: how long will it be until Sam Jackson is rumored to play the Mr. T. part? My guess: not long.
