Rob Zombie Not Remaking C.H.U.D., Looking To Do a Western Instead

Hot on the heels of our Halloween DVD contest, here’s some Rob Zombie news, hot off the press. Alright now everyone repeat after me: Don’t believe everything you read on the internet! It turns out those rumours about Rob Zombie remaking C.H.U.D. were, as he puts it, “a joke”. (I did think it was a little bit strange that he would run out and do another horror remake so soon after Halloween.) In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Zombie sets the record straight, hinting toward some possibilities for his next film, but revealing that there is nothing official in the works as of yet. He’d love to do a full length version of his faux Grindhouse trailer, Werewolf Women of the S.S., although he doesn’t really see that happening. However, one thing he is very interested in directing next is a western. “It’s one of my favorite genres. I love John Ford, Howard Hawks.” Jeez… give it up with the John Carpenter idol worship already, will ya?? Zombie apparently loved the new remake of 3:10 to Yuma, and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone recruited him to helm another classic western remake in the near future. But is this something Zombie could actually handle? I’d be very curious to see what he might come up with, I just think he’d need to dial down that rock n roll style of his a smidgen or two. Thoughts?

  1. This is something i would see, just for the curiosity factor alone.

  2. Remake Rio Bravo with electric guitars.

  3. Rob’s excited to listen to our Movie Club Podcast next week. Look at the T-Shirt he’s wearing in that picture!

  4. I would be completely ecstatic if Rob Zombie were to do an original western. That would be a film to see. And I don’t mean Firefly family prequel
