More X-Men Origin Movies Going Direct to DVD?
There’s a lot of talk this week about the possibility of even more X-Men spin-off movies heading our way really soon. We already know that there are Wolverine and Magneto prequels in the works, but with so many characters to choose from, it only makes sense that they might be considering other solo origin flicks. What makes even more sense, however, is the fact that they’re looking to produce them on the cheap and release them direct to DVD. The question is, will these kinds of movies tarnish the Marvel name and disappoint fans of certain second-string characters? I guess it all depends what characters they are considering for these straight to video affairs.
There is a rumour going around right now that Joe Carnahan may be involved in directing a Juggernaut prequel — all because he posted a picture of Juggernaut on his personal blog. I’m not sure if that’s enough evidence for me to believe it just yet, but I will say that Vinnie Jones is the kind of guy I can see starring in one of these DTV flicks. So is anyone interested in a Juggernaut prequel? I know he’s supposed to be Xavier’s half-brother, but something tells me Patrick Stewart would not make an appearance. Which other X-Men would be suitable for a movie like this?

If Marvel has proven one thing with their line of DTV animated features lately, it’s that we can’t trust them to release quality products direct to DVD.
I’d either like to see a new director come on and make a quality fourth X-Men film to make up for that piece of shit Brett Ratner one, or just give the property a rest for a while. Wolverine could theoretically hold his own in a spin-off series considering that he’s widely regarded as the most popular of the X-Men and has been able to sustain a solo comic book with healthy sales figures for many years. Beyond him, I would prefer not to see any other X-characters get their own films. Let Colossus or Rogue pop up in a Wolverine movie or something, but I say keep them away from their own movies, DTV or otherwise.
