Monday Morning Box Office Report – Nov. 19th, 2007

Well it appears that the 300-esque trailers and the semi-nude CG rendering of Angelina Jolie paid off, as Beowulf opened strong this past weekend with over $28 million. Bee Movie and American Gangster continued to do great business in the #2 and #3 positions, while Fred Claus held down #4 with $12 million in its second weekend. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium didn’t completely bomb, but only managed a mediocre $10 million, meanwhile The Coens’ No Country For Old Men climbed its way to the top 10 despite playing in only 148 theatres. Crazy!

1. Beowulf — $28.1M
2. Bee Movie — $14.3M
3. American Gangster — $13.2M
4. Fred Claus — $12M
5. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium — $10M
6. Dan in Real Life — $4.51M
7. No Country for Old Men — $3.1M
8. Lions for Lambs — $2.9M
9. Saw IV — $2.33M
10. Love in the Time of Cholera — $1.88M

  1. I watched Blood Simple two or three days before seeing No Country For Old Men and I have to say that those Coen Brothers sure as hell know how to make a damn good dark film about murder and death (Fargo included). No Country is definitely in my Top 5 of the year now.
