First Sunday Trailer Starring Ice Cube
When I was younger, if I could have looked into the future to find out that Ice Cube from the controversial rap group N.W.A. would go on to become the star of many lame PG-13 family comedies, I would have been pretty disappointed. But I guess you can’t live the thug life forever, and the way it all went down, the transition happened so gradually that no one really seemed to notice anything strange about it. I will admit that he can do comedy quite well, but for some reason I still prefer to see him in silly action roles like Anaconda, Ghosts of Mars, and xXx: State of the Union. Unfortunately, next up for Ice Cube is another cheesy comedy.
He’s starred in Friday, Next Friday, and Friday After Next, so hey… why not a movie called First Sunday? This can only lead to one logical conclusion: an Ice Cube comedy trilogy for each day of the week. If they’re all as bland as this movie though, I don’t know how far he’ll get. Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan play petty criminals who come up with a plan to rob their neighbourhood church, but start to feel the presence of the Lord punishing them for their sins. Tracy Morgan is a pretty funny guy as well, but he’s not being given much to work with in this case. Peep the trailer below and see what you think. First Sunday hits theatres on January 11th.

I read your words and all I hear is hate. Ice cube was never a great actor and he never will be, but look at what he has achieved. The brother found a niche market and he went for it. Not everyone wants to be challenged by a riveting movie at all times! Not everyone wishes to seek the meaning of this and that! Sometimes we just want to be tantalised by something silly that does not beg to be interpreted for anything more than it is; some silly stuff.

I like his work, it’s the kind of thing I can come home to after a hard days work; have a cold beverage and a laugh. So I hope the brother keeps doing what he does; make me, am millions like me laugh.
I just saw that Ice Cube will be in a new sports movie which will be executive produced by Fred Durst. On top of all that it’ll have a PG rating. Odd.
