Mysterious Viral Video of Soldier Talking Guidelines for Regime Change

I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to viral marketing schemes; a cleverly conceived mystery never fails to capture my interest. The marketing for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Cloverfield movie has been outstanding, and other studios have no doubt noticed the buzz it created. But could they be following suit with some mysterious marketing campaigns of their own? I stumbled across this video the other day, and it seems to have a lot of people baffled. It’s a short clip of a soldier loading a gun and talking about “guidelines for regime change”. My first thought was something to do with the upcoming John Rambo film, but this is probably a little too cryptic for an action movie of that nature. G.I. Joe maybe? I’m assuming it would be a movie that needs the extra publicity though. Other people have actually said this is somehow tied to Cloverfield but I don’t know if I buy that. Anyway, I thought I’d pass it along and see if you guys have any ideas. I’m all ears!

  1. Seems a little out of the blue. I wonder where it originated from?

  2. It’s a real video, pre-iraq invasion :P yep.

  3. Perhaps something about God’s Hammer or some such other deal involved with Year Zero. Just speculation.
