If Tanya is right about it being a stand-alone movie then that could be a very good thing. When it first came out there was nothing on television like it (a creepy at times neo-noir paranormal conspiracy mystery show). I think that the movie would have to conclude the mythology of the show as such it at the point where they left off it would be more of an action picture. I wouldn't mind that if it could still bring back some of what made the first few seasons so great. The creator is still involved so that's a good thing. Just a regular old monster/supernatural movie. The question is "when" will this stand-alone take place? Rumors were that it was going to take place at a time when Mulder and Scully were still in the FBI as partners. I've been waiting for almost 10 years for a sequel and while I am happy to see it happening finally I'm still a little bitter for waiting this long. They certainly have an uphill battle in re-establishing interest in the franchise. Hopefully with the new Ultimate X-Files Boxset coming out people's interest in the show will be ignited. I hope they get a good production blog up an running when they start filming, that's another great way to get noticed. Well here's to hoping. The truth is out there.
