If you want to talk about people's offscreen appearances have taken over their presence on-screen (like Kevin Spacey) I think George Clooney is the prime example. From growing up thinking he was the biggest badass in the world from watching Dusk till Dawn countless times, he's not just a smug joke who seems to think of himself as the answerman. All of his self-deprecation comes off as pathetic to me, and I hardly think he holds the key to any sort of progress for humanity, since he is willing to whore himself out to sell expensive alcohol, and gets pissed off when reporters ask him about the hipocrisy.
