Justice League Spin-off Movies Green Lantern and The Flash Get Directors
The ongoing saga of the live action Justice League movie just keeps getting stranger and more crowded. After hearing some rumours about a possible casting decision for Wonder Woman late last week, today there comes news of not one but two JLA characters getting directors attached to their own individual live action films. According to the MTV Movies Blog, David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus) has been hired to direct The Flash feature film. He takes over the reins from Shawn Levy who had previously been attached to the flick. Dobkin confirmed that it would be the Wally West version of The Flash, and that his movie would be a spin-off from George Miller’s Justice League film. Meanwhile, Yahoo reports that Greg Berlanti (Everwood, The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy) will be directing a Green Lantern spin-off. Contrary to what we had heard earlier however, his film would be based on the Hal Jordan Green Lantern, not John Stewart.
It seems strange to me that they would already be announcing directors for these spin-off films when they don’t even know how a Justice League movie will fare, although I suppose it’s best to plan ahead. Some fanboys will probably also be concerned at the potentially comedic turn that The Flash has taken with Dobkin on board (The O.C.’s Adam Brody is currently rumoured to be the frontrunner to play the wisecracking speedster). Personally I am still very intrigued at the possibilities for a JLA film, it just seems to be a bit of a mess at the moment. Maybe they should finalize a cast before they start getting too ahead of themselves. What do you think about these new developments? Will they have a positive or negative effect on a Justice League film?

I was also worried at the proposal of protraying GL as the ever-free risk Hal Jordan than the Marcho Army officer John Stewart, which is more preferable to Hal Jordan. No offense to this Hal Jordan character but I strongly prefer that GL be protrayed in the character of John Stewart. He brings about a certain enemity to the role of the protector of the Universe-Greenlantern.And don’t get me started on Flash.Everyone knows that kid Flash isn’t much of a man to the role as real Flash plays.
