Marc Caro’s Dante 01 Teaser Trailer
Alright, I’ll admit that I had no idea who Marc Caro was when I first read this post over at Twitch, but then I saw that he had worked on Alien: Resurrection with Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and co-directed a couple of films with him prior to that. Jeunet, of course, went on to make a name for himself with the highly acclaimed Amélie and A Very Long Engagement, but Caro hasn’t really been heard from since. Until now.
Dante 01 is a new movie he is directing, and although the teaser trailer is all in French with no subtitles, it looks like it could give Sunshine a run for its money in terms of visuals. The story revolves around a space prison in which the six most dangerous criminals are subject to psychiatric experiments. When a new prisoner arrives, he is possessed by an alien power that unleashes a violent rebellion across the ship. Yeah, this could be a little out there, but there’s simply not enough good sci-fi coming out nowadays. Dante 01 will be released (in France, I’m assuming) on January 2nd.

Oh no! The video is gone and you used the magic word: “Sunshine”.

Looks good to me and the fact that The Merovingian appears to be the main character is a nice little bonus.
Posted by Marina on October 26th, 2007Alien Resurrection was the bastard child of the Alien family that should have been aborted. The connection to this film doesn’t make me very excited to see it, though as a Sci-Fi fan I’m always ready for something new. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how Dante01 turns out.
Posted by Rian on October 27th, 2007Now we know where the creepy Graphic novel style came from in the City of lost children. Something that was missing from Junets solo movies. I’m a fan of both and I hope they work together again.
