Battlestar Galactica Razor to Get Early Theatrical Screenings in Select Cities

If you’re a Battlestar Galactica fan, you’re probably waiting impatiently for the made for TV movie Razor to air on November 24th. The show’s fourth season won’t start until January, but this special 2-hour episode sets the stage by telling the backstory of the Pegasus during the Cylon War, back when Helena Cain (Michelle Forbes) was in command. It’s a prequel of sorts, but also applies to events that will take place in season 4.

An extended version of Battlestar Galactica: Razor will be released on DVD on December 4th, but here’s the cool thing: if you live in one of eight U.S. cities, you can catch a free theatrical screening of the movie almost two weeks early! The Sci-Fi Channel has set up special events in Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Chicago. In order to reserve yourself a seat, visit www.battlestarevent.com (the site goes live on Friday, Oct. 26th). You know, as cool as this is, it just makes me think that I’d love to see a Battlestar Galactica feature film one day. Maybe they can turn it into a movie franchise once the series has ended. Hey, if Firefly can get a feature film, why not this? (Well, maybe because Serenity didn’t do so well. Never mind.) At any rate, you can also get yourself hyped up by watching a series of weekly two-minute shorts over at the official Battlestar Galactica site. Enjoy.

  1. I imagine these screenings will be like the theatre-scene in Jarhead.
