Monday Morning Box Office Report – Oct. 22nd, 2007
If the past weekend are any indication of the public’s interest in Alaskan vampires, then the rumours of a 30 Days of Night sequel are more than likely to come true. David Slade’s adaptation of the Steve Niles/Ben Templesmith comic book took in $16 million in its opening weekend, knocking Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? out of the top spot. Meanwhile, The Game Plan is still going strong with another $8 million weekend, Michael Clayton suffered little drop-off in its second week of wide release, and Ben Affleck’s Gone Baby Gone rounded out the top 5. Still, for a movie that his career is riding on, he might be a little worried with its meager $6 million take. Can strong word of mouth give it a boost in the coming weeks?
1. 30 Days of Night — $16M
2. Why Did I Get Married? — $12.1M
3. The Game Plan — $8.12M
4. Michael Clayton — $7.1M
5. Gone Baby Gone — $6M
