Bee Movie TV Juniors: More Brilliant Seinfeld Marketing

I’m not sure if anyone else has been catching these little commercials for the upcoming animated film Bee Movie or not, but they’ve been airing during The Office on NBC, and they’re some of the most creative TV spots I’ve seen, well, pretty much ever. Jerry Seinfeld is a genius. Just look at the trailer for his documentary Comedian, and then check out the first two trailers for Bee Movie and tell me they’re not brilliant. Now he’s come up with this idea of “TV Juniors”, which are short behind the scenes mockumentaries about the making of the film. They’re not all knee-slappingly funny, but it’s just such a great way to make his personality synonymous with the film. I think my favourite one is where they record dialogue from the voice actors (Patrick Warburton and Ray Liotta) during their every day lives. Check out these clips online over at the Bee Movie website and see what you think. The only question that comes to my mind is… why the hell is Seinfeld doing another generic CG film when he could be doing something so much more creative? Who knows, maybe Bee Movie will actually be good. What are the odds?

  1. I think Bee Movie looks pretty good. I know that it won’t have the same adult-oriented comedy that Seinfeld had, but it still seems to have Jerry’s sense of humor from what I’ve seen. I’ll be there opening weekend.

  2. Are you kidding? Compared to The Office, I really, really will not see Bee Movie because of those horrible shorts. God, is this what Jerry has resorted to?
    Yikes!

  3. Well considering they are advertisements for a CG animated film, I think they’re pretty damn creative. I will admit that not all of them are laugh out loud funny, but I appreciate the effort.

  4. doooode – u should consider removing ur comments man. It makes you look bad too. I think some bizarre animal sex scandal would be less embarrassing for Seinfeld than those commercials … cause there’s always the chance the scandal is false. But he and his team are spending emormous amounts of money on this, it’s something they genuinely think is good and funny, and it is totally retarded. This is coming from a Seinfeld fan. The lamest part of all is they give you notice (at out house, we call it warning) that an episode is coming up. People here scream “change the channel!!! mute!! anything!!!”. We hate them that much.

  5. Strange. Thanks for the link. I don’t understand why people are so angry at these things. I will re-iterate that I don’t necessarily think they’re the funniest things on the planet (and yes, some aren’t funny at all) but as far as marketing goes, they are innovative and different. Maybe that’s why people just can’t handle them. Either way, they’re obviously raising a lot of awareness for the movie, which I’m assuming is their goal.

  6. good lord. they’re so bad. so, so bad.

now I want his movie to fail.

  7. So bad. Hate hate hate hate them. Loved Seinfeld’s old show but these little commericals are terrible. I haven’t seen one single funny one. Painful to watch. Stupid. Even more stupid than the sitcoms they interrupt. Thank god for my mute button. Best part is that the audience is warned in time to leave the room or press mute or change the channel.
