Stop-Loss Trailer Starring Ryan Phillippe
Oh goody, another movie about the Iraq war! Just what everyone wants to see, right? Well, okay, maybe I’m the only one growing a little cynical of all these movies coming out lately (particularly during Oscar season) but there is one thing that interests me about this film: the fact that it’s from Kimberly Peirce, director of the emotionally crushing film Boys Don’t Cry. Stop-Loss stars Ryan Phillippe as a soldier who gets sent home after serving in Iraq, only to be recalled with a “stop-loss”, which he refuses to abide by. Sadly, the trailer looks about as cheesy as you would expect it to, and the use of Drowning Pool’s “Let The Bodies Hit The Floor” feels just plain wrong. I suppose it’s only a trailer, but I don’t see anything particularly bold or insightful here. The cast also includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Abbie Cornish, Channing Tatum and Timothy Olyphant. Stop-Loss hits theatres on March 28th, 2008.

This preview looks lame. I always wondered why that Drowning Pool song was never used in a preview before. It’s so easy to use in a horror film. Hell….it was used appropriately as a wrestling theme song. But, you’re right Sean…here it’s kind of weird.
I don’t care about this movie.

Posted by heather on January 24th, 2008The song “bodies hit the floor”is just to grab the audiances attention and interest in the trailer. I think this preview will intregue a great audience in the end.
Posted by haley on February 3rd, 2008The song is not meant to offend the war at all, im sure. And the transitions of the songs from snow patrol was portrayed nicely.
this is like the best movie i have ever seen….. awsome
Posted by tyler on December 4th, 2008It starts out just like any other war movie, but it turns into a movie not about war but home (or lack there of)
