New To Theatres This Weekend – Oct. 12, 2007

If you’re headed to the cineplex this weekend, here are the latest choices on the menu. Shekhar Kapur’s Elizabeth: The Golden Age is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Elizabeth, and although they’re trying to promote it as an epic adventure film, reviews have been weak and I have a nagging suspicion it might tank. Tony Gilroy’s Michael Clayton starring George Clooney expands to a wide release after having a huge per screen average last weekend, while the Mark Wahlberg/Joaquin Phoenix crime flick We Own The Night should attract a fair number of moviegoers as well. In a handful of theatres we also have the Ryan Gosling dramedy Lars and the Real Girl, along with the Michael Caine/Jude Law remake of Sleuth. What are you seeing?

The Darjeeling Limited (expanding)
Elizabeth: The Golden Age

Lars and the Real Girl (limited)

  1. Darjeeling was AWESOME> i have to say i had low expectations of it for some reason, but regardless I had a great time with a huge smile on my face.
despite it being the artiest Anderson film today, it actually felt the LEAST pretentious (with maybe the exception of Bottle Rocket)

  2. Just saw it tonight as well. And liked it. We will be reviewing it on the podcast.
