Mama’s Boy Trailer Starring Jon Heder and Anna Faris

I never would have thought it, but Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder is still getting work and apparently people are still going to see his movies. It probably didn’t hurt that in his last film he starred alongside Will Ferrell, and even though he didn’t bring much to the proceedings himself, it still pulled in $144 million worldwide. Is Heder really here to stay? I can’t say for sure, but his next movie Mama’s Boy looks like a fairly generic cross between The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Grandma’s Boy and Mr. Woodcock — exactly the kind of stuff that audiences will eat up. He plays a 29 year old geek who lives with his mom (Diane Keaton), but problems start when her new boyfriend (Jeff Daniels) moves in, getting in the way of their relationship. The movie was written by Hank Nelken (Saving Silverman, Are We Done Yet?). I can’t say the trailer really made me laugh, but I will say that any movie that makes fun of live-action roleplaying can’t be a complete waste of time. Mama’s Boy hits theatres on November 30th; check out the trailer now via the link below.

  1. This looks like fucking shit. Diane Keaton… Talk about getting irrelevant.

I can sympathize with Jeff Daniels grabbing a paycheck like this, but I think he needs to give people the chance to give him some awards. He is one of my favourite actors, seeing him in this hurts my feelings.

That Jon Heder guy is enough to turn me away from anything. I’ve only seen him in this trailer, the trailer for School for Schoundrels and some TV spots for Napoleon Dynamite and I already want to murder him with axes.

  2. Oh, I liked Anna Faris in this btw. Grr.

  3. Wow, this just looks awful. Jeff Daniels, shame on you!

  4. No. No. No. He can’t be here to stay. That guy is done like overcooked beans.

Though I agree that the inclusion of LARPing and Anna Faris certainly adds a little something to the story.

  5. Jon Heder has a pretty strong personality just like Jack Black. Even though I liked Napolean Dynamite, that’s the only role I’ve liked him in so far.

Anna Faris has been really warming up to me with all her latest roles and I can’t wait to see her in Smiley Face. Just her alone might make me watch Mama’s Boy. Being very attractive doesn’t hurt either :)

The one thing that bothers me about the trailer was there wasn’t enough of the reasons why he is living with his mom and not enough stuff of what geeky 29 year-olds do. Come on, live-action role playing? That’s it?

  6. The LARPing scenes look sort of humorous and I love me some Jeff Daniels, but there’s no way in hell I’ll be seeing this.

  7. It was subtle but it looked like the geek was reading an old Thor comic with gloves on but at the kitchen table so that’s inconsistent as everybody knows that if you’re a comic geek you have a special chair for that. Also, looks like they’re set to do another parody of the They Live fight in this one. It was funny when South Park did it but I don’t know about this piecer.
