Santa Claus vs Zombies: The Last Christmas Graphic Novel Comes to the Big Screen

Just when you thought every single twist on the post-apocalyptic zombie story had been played out, along comes a fresh new take on the genre that mixes it with everyone’s favourite holiday: Christmas! It seems that the production company behind 300 are looking at a possible movie adaptation of a graphic novel called The Last Christmas that features — you guessed it — Santa Claus kicking some undead ass. It seems that Santa was fed up with his thankless job and went on hiatus for a few years, but when he returned from seclusion he found that the world had been completely transformed, Mad Max-style. The 5-issue comic book series was written by Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn (Run Ronnie Run), and although I’ve read mixed reviews, I have to admit that the premise seems so outlandish that it’s bound to deliver some laughs. At the very least, it should offer a nice change of pace from the usual holiday garbage we get force fed in theatres every December. No word yet on who might direct, but I for one look forward to hearing more about this would-be cult classic. Here’s to hoping it’s at least on par with Santa Claus Conquers The Martians!

  1. Brian Posehn is hilarious, they should do this movie with him as santa.
