New To Theatres This Weekend – Sept. 28, 2007

Well there’s only really one movie I want to see this weekend, and unfortunately it’s playing in all of 2 theatres nationwide at the moment. Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited should be expanding in the coming weeks, but in the meantime you’ve got your choice of a family sports comedy starring The Rock (The Game Plan), a Robert Benton romantic drama starring Greg Kinnear, Morgan Freeman and Selma Blair (Feast of Love) and a political action-thriller starring Jamie Foxx (The Kingdom). I’ll probably take my chances with the latter. Is there anything else worth seeing out there?

  1. Film Festival! =)

I was also under the impression that “The Assassination of Jesse James…” opened this weekend. Guess not!

  2. No, but I think it expands next week, and then even more a couple weeks later. It’s going to be interesting to see how many theatres they put it in. From what I understand, it’s very much an art house film, and yet a lot of casual moviegoers seem to know about it just because Brad Pitt is in it.

  3. I know I’ve seen this formula before, but damned if “the Game Plan” doesn’t look like a good movie.

Dwayne Johnson is a really great star, and a great comedic actor.

  4. Yeah he’s the new Tom Hanks!

  5. I know Greg is gonna see it!

  6. you know as bad as the Game Plan apparently is, the Rock is getting a lot of praise from his performance :P

I still think Jay should see the Rundown. I mean its not perfect, but its a lot of fun.
