This Week on DVD – Sept. 25, 2007

Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up is definitely the biggest DVD release of the week, and with the amount of extra material included, it seems like it’s easily the most value for your money this week too. There are also quite a few other interesting DVDs in stores today, including William Friedkin’s Bug, Paul Verhoeven’s Black Book, and Judd Apatow protege Jake Kasdan’s new comedy The TV Set. Anime fans will not want to miss Tekkonkinkreet, meanwhile horror fans can dig into a special edition release of Stephen King’s Cujo, along with the Twisted Terror Collection, which includes John Carpenter’s made for TV movie Someone’s Watching Me and Oliver Stone’s The Hand. Last, and probably least, did I mention the direct to video sequel Walking Tall: Lone Justice starring Kevin Sorbo?

  1. “Tekkonkinkreet” and “Black Book” are two that I haven’t seen yet but will definitely be checking out on DVD. Friedkin’s “Bug” is one I can’t wait to revisit though I doubt I’ll be buying it and if I’m not mistaken, “As You Like It” is Branagh’s most recent Shakespearean adaptation – unfortunately, it’s not supposed to be very good.

  2. HMV just reduced the Invasion of the Body Snatchers Se to 6.00 – picked that up.

  3. Hell yeah, I really wanna see Black Book. Hopefully one of my favorite directors, Verhoeven, still has something up his sleeve to impress us.

I remember not liking Wyatt Earp. It was all about Tombstone for me back then. Next looks like a so-bad-its-good kind of movie so I might check that out with Condemned this weekend.
