Download Film Junk Podcast for Sept. 23, 2007
This week on the podcast, Greg is back to tell us about all his time spent in Toronto, and all three of us give our review of David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises. We also try to pick a winner between Cronenberg and Lynch in Versus, meanwhile for this week’s Top 5, we countdown our favourite fat guys (seriously). We also talk a bit about the new Southland Tales trailer, the idea of how to define a “classic”, and the continuing saga of DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Are you buying what we’re selling? Another cerebral and scintillating edition of the Film Junk podcast is merely a click away!

I finally get a working computer at home and you skip talkshoe… *Sigh*
The ending of this show was classic though. Best part of it. The classic debate didn’t really go anywhere other than talking about effects.
Posted by Henrik on September 24th, 2007The casting for Southland Tales definitely makes me think it’ll be a comedy. I thought Timberlake would ruin my experience in watching Black Snake Moan, but it didn’t so I don’t he’ll do too bad in this movie. I’m not sure if I read it on your site/podcast, but I read somewhere that this movie is suppose to be a musical. It could be another misleading trailer though.
Posted by Primal on September 24th, 2007hah Greg, I actually listened to Beyond 11 all the time back in the day, like 97, 98 was it? I won contests on there half the time, t shirts, concert tix, etc… then I remember it just seemed to disappear. Q107 tried to make a similar show called The Big Unit but that didnt last long either.
Posted by Goon on September 25th, 2007I finally turned the show into a big ratings grab, but it was too little too late. When Standard radio couldn’t afford to pay me anymore the show ended. Damn automated systems.
Posted by Greg on September 25th, 2007are you at liberty to say who the biggest asshole/bitch was at the station? i think the DJ’s name was Christy, but I couldnt stand her, and when he appeared live at 97.7 events people yelled at her from the crowd about how obnoxious she was….
Posted by Goon on September 25th, 2007Greg, you said you saw Marisa Tomei. How does she look for a 42-year old? I haven’t seen her in anything for years. I would of had ask her for a drink! I use to have the biggest crush on her. I would watch her movies just for her like how I watch Scarlett Johansson movies because of her now.
Posted by Primal on September 26th, 2007Goon…in all honesty, the people I dealt with were great co-workers. I was never at the station when Kristy Knight worked there. I have heard many people say horrible things about her and I have also heard people yell at her during concerts. However….I had water bottles, coins and lighters thrown at me when I introduced Sepultura in Toronto. Mind you…that could be just the angry, sweaty metal fans who’d been waiting for hours becuase the band was late.
Primal…Marisa Tomei looked great. Not great like Diane Lane…but she still looked good.
Posted by Greg on September 26th, 2007there was one guy, i think it was Iron Mike, who did nights live at the bowling alley on Ontario Street… now he was a pretty nice guy…
Posted by Goon on September 26th, 2007Iron Mike is awesome. He’s 55 and still puts fart sounds in songs and it makes me laugh everytime.
