Darren Aronofsky’s Audio Commentary for The Fountain Now Available As Free Download
As we reported a few months ago, Darren Aronofsky wanted to include a lot more extras on the DVD release of The Fountain, but the folks over at Warner Brothers weren’t interested in spending any more money on it. Luckily, Aronofsky decided to take matters into his own hands, and has since recorded an audio commentary track for the movie and post it online as a MP3 file for all to hear. That commentary track is now available over on his website DarrenAronofsky.com for free. For some reason, however, they decided to post it as an embedded file which seems a bit strange (I guess you’re supposed to bring up the website as you watch the DVD on your computer), but since there is no direct download link, I’ll provide one for you here.
The Fountain Commentary (Mono MP3, 31.8 MB)
On a related note, Roger Ebert recently went back and reviewed The Fountain himself (he was in the hospital back when it was originally released) and doesn’t give it particularly high marks. He does, however, reveal that the movie’s timeline isn’t as complex as everyone seems to think — but do people actually believe there is some sort of time travelling going on in this flick? I thought it was pretty obvious that the other stories were chapters from Izzy’s book. (It still doesn’t make some of the imagery any less bizarre though!) One of Ebert’s readers lays it all out for us here.

hi, just wanted to point out that the download-link doesn’t work…
greetings
Posted by Antonio on September 17th, 2007Hmm they must have blocked external links or something. What an inconvenient way to release it.
Posted by Sean on September 17th, 2007The Fountain – One of the most visually beautiful and well directed pieces of crap movies I’ve ever seen. Some of the scenes, honestly, flew past me. I can’t wait to hear the commentary.
Posted by Primal on September 17th, 2007If you post that link into your download manager, it’ll work.
Posted by Marina on September 17th, 2007I guess I was really lucky today and managed to get this while the mp3 download here worked. The file’s been changed so that’s maybe why it doesn’t work now? Anyway thanks so much. Now I can watch it on my big tv in the tv movie room and listen to the commentary on my ipod.
In short: Thanks!
