DVD Review: Night on Earth

Night on EarthHello and welcome to another Film Junk DVD Audio Review. This time i’m looking at Jim Jarmusch’s film ‘Night On Earth’. Here’s the synopsis:

Five cities. Five taxicabs. A multitude of strangers in the night. Jim Jarmusch assembled an extraordinary international cast of actors (including Gena Rowlands, Winona Ryder, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Béatrice Dalle, and Roberto Benigni) for this hilarious quintet of tales of urban displacement and existential angst, spanning time zones, continents, and languages. Jarmusch’s lovingly askew view of humanity from the passenger seat makes for one his most charming and beloved films.

Night On Earth has just been released on DVD for the first time in North America through the illustrious Criterion Collection, so have a listen and share your thoughts in the comment section!

  1. I have to admit that I really enjoyed this movie. I remember it being a little long and the first section in LA not being that great but ultimately I’ve liked all the Jarmusch movies that I’ve seen and it sort of surprises me.

  2. The audio cut out for me during your description of the Roberto Benigni segment. Anyone else have this problem?

  3. Yeah, it’s cut off, i’ll get on that as soon as I get home from work.

  4. We’re right at our limit for web space at the moment, that’s probably why it got cut off. We’re trying to rectify that as soon as possible.

  5. It’s fixed now.

  6. This film was already on my ever-growing list of movies that I need to see, but after the review I think I may track it down a bit more adamantly than I had been.

  7. finally on dvd, now i get the chance to watch the film i wanted to watch since high school

  8. I saw the film many years ago and I still remember it as one of the most hilarious flicks of that time. I am sure that anyone who has seen it will agree.

  9. I would like to know where I can find the screenplay: NIGHT ON EARTH(1992) DIRECTED BY Jim Jarmursh.

    Thanks a lot!
