Star Trek The Original Series HD DVD Features Revealed

HiDefDigest has posted a sweet little YouTube video that details some of the interactive content planned to appear on the upcoming Star Trek: The Original Series Season 1 HD DVD box set. I’ve got to say i’m pretty pumped for this. At first I wasn’t sure about the enhanced effects and music, but I think they’ve seemed to manage to keep it pretty tasteful and still respect the feel of the original look of the show. The set is scheduled to hit shelves November 20th at a suggested retail price of….$217.99!!! Yikes. It’s going to be a tough fall season for my pocket book. Yet another reason HD DVD is number one in my books. Check out the video below and see what all of the TREKCITEMENT IS ALL ABOUT.

  2. The ship’s still got that satellite dish no escaping that bit of retro sci-fi.

  3. Trekcitement? Are you fucking kidding me?

  4. Hard on your pocketbook? I’m gonna have to buy an HD television, HD-DVD player and the DVD set now. $2000+ for Star Trek?? Oh yeah!

  5. I predict that two years from now, CBS will be re-releasing Star Trek The Original Series HD DVD Season One with the cheesy acting updated. (Hey, I love the cheesy acting.)

It’s a good thing Rick Berman has nothing to do with updating ST: TOS or else the cheesy music would have been replaced. (Hey, I’m saying I love the cheesy music.) Actually, it would be interesting if they got a composer to score the episodes that used music from previous episodes. But the composer should have to compose in the original style if that’s possible.

I’m surprised at how well these visual effects updated episodes are doing in syndication.

  6. Trekcitement thats classic.
