I was having a discussion the other day with someone who was wondering why they didn’t push the release of Rob Zombie’s Halloween back a couple of months and release it closer to the the actual holiday. I have to admit, it seems a bit silly not to use such an obvious marketing tactic, but my theory is that they didn’t want to compete with the Saw franchise which has been slowly establishing itself as a not-to-be-missed annual event every October. This new teaser trailer for Saw IV would seem to confirm that, as it features the bold tagline “If it’s Halloween, it must be Saw”. I gotta say though, this teaser trailer is absolutely atrocious! It tries to make the franchise seem all epic or something, but it’s certainly not scary and in many ways it’s just completely laughable. Personally I think the Saw franchise is on its last legs and I wouldn’t be surprised if part IV bombs, but who knows — I didn’t think people would be interested in a part 2 or 3 either. Give the new teaser trailer a look over at Yahoo! and let us know if you’re excited about this next installment or not.
