Monday Morning Box Office Report – Sept. 3rd, 2007
Hey guys, since it’s a holiday here in Canada and the U.S., there will just be a few quick updates before we record the podcast later on tonight. This weekend Rob Zombie proved that he is a somewhat bankable name, although you have to question whether it was him or simply the Halloween legacy that helped bring in $32.5 million. Superbad is still doing well, sitting at #2 for the weekend with $15 million, while Balls of Fury did a somewhat disappointing $14 million (although, considering the lack of big stars, maybe it was expected). The Bourne Ultimatum and Rush Hour 3 closed out the top 5. James Wan’s Death Sentence only brought in $5.5 million, but it played on a lot less screens than Halloween and Balls of Fury. Does this mean R-rated horror movies have been granted a temporary reprieve?
1. Halloween — $32.5M
2. Superbad — $15.2M
3. Balls of Fury — $14M
4. The Bourne Ultimatum — $13.1M
5. Rush Hour 3 — $10.1M
6. Mr. Bean’s Holiday — $8.04M
7. The Nanny Diaries — $6.6M
8. Death Sentence — $5.5M
9. War — $4.6M
10. Stardust — $3.81M
