Dario Argento’s Mother of Tears (La Terza Madre) Trailer

I must confess that I’ve never seen any of the films of Italian director Dario Argento, which probably throws my credibility as a horror fan completely out the window, but I do know that Suspiria is widely regarded as one of the most important horror films ever made. It turns out that Suspiria is the first in a thematic trilogy, followed by Inferno, and to be completed with Argento’s latest film, La Terza Madre (Mother of Tears), which is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. The movie stars Asia Argento (his daughter) as an archaeology student who unwittingly unleashes the wrath of the world’s most powerful witch on the streets of Rome. There’s obviously some pretty heavy religious content intertwined, which somehow always makes a horror film seem that much more frightening (don’t ask me why, since I’m not religious). Check out the latest trailer for Mother of Tears below; it holds back the gore, but it’s still creepy as hell.

  1. Holy crap, finally! I didn’t think the movie would come out so soon after just hearing news of completing the trilogy earlier this year.

It’s been a while since Argento has done anything that has blown me away since the 80’s, but I am really looking forward to it. Even though he casts horrible actors in pretty much every movie he does, his films have always had great cinematography.

I can also safely say that Tarantino rips off Argento’s style quite a bit in The Kill Bill movies, but since Tarantino does it well, so its okay.

I hope that Argento can give us more of that cool camerawork and bring back his kind of suspense and terror.

  2. Be prepared though, the gore is likely to come in the film!

  3. Huzzah!
    His films are the best.
I can’t WAIT for this to hit the cinemas.

  4. havent seen suspira?!? shame on you!! – most recently, SAW rips off a scene from that film, involving a certain f**d-up trap.
