Tuesday Morning Box Office Report: Aug. 7, 2007
Monday was a holiday here in Canada so this week’s box office report is coming a day late. Matt Damon and The Bourne Ultimatum had a very, very good opening weekend, taking in almost $70 million. Considering the positive reviews and the wide age range that this movie appeals to, it’s easy to see why. The Simpsons Movie continued its success with another $25 million… will we see a sequel? I hope not. Underdog managed to net $11.6 million, while I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix rounded out the Top 5. Andy Samberg and Hot Rod didn’t quite have the box office draw that maybe some people were hoping they would, but considering all the competition, I suppose $5 million isn’t a complete disaster. Or is it?
