Michel Gondry’s Be Kind Rewind Trailer from Comic Con

Under anyone else’s guidance, this movie could be a huge mistake, but in the hands of Michel Gondry, Be Kind Rewind is going to be one of the best films of the year. In case you haven’t heard the premise, Jack Black plays a guy who works at a video store that somehow demagnetizes all of the VHS tapes in the store. In order to avoid getting fired, he and his coworker (Mos Def) must remake all of the movies themselves! This could have gone the route of Scary Movie-style spoof, but instead it just looks plain wacky. A trailer for the film was shown at the San Diego Comic Con this year, and has now found its way onto YouTube. It’s not the best quality, but you can still get a good look at their adaptations of Ghostbusters and Robocop, both of which feature ridiculously bad homemade costumes. Oh yes, this is going to be a lot of fun. Be Kind Rewind is currently scheduled for a limited release on December 21st.

  1. Limited release!??! Why?? Jack Black and Michel Gondry aren’t enough to open in major release??

  2. This indeed looks like a lot of fun
I was kinda getting tired of Jack Black but only because he so oftens play the same comedic roles. Adding Mos Def and Michel Gondry to the mix will certainly please a wider audience. Can’t wait to see more remakes within the movie!

  3. as long as it’s Gondry, I’m happy!
btw, it’s funny that the Robocop costume looks a lot like Judge Dredd.
