R-rated Red Band Superbad Trailer
It’s been a pretty huge summer as far as movie releases go, but amidst all the comic book sequels and action blockbusters, one thing that has been sorely lacking is a good assortment of hilarious comedies. Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up is the one exception; aside from that the best laughs I had this summer probably came from Ocean’s Thirteen, which isn’t even a straight up comedy. Now, while we have The Simpsons Movie coming out this weekend, and Hot Rod the week after that, I think the one movie that could save this summer’s poor comedic showing is Superbad, directed by Greg Mottola (Arrested Development, Undeclared) and written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. I thought the first trailer showed promise, but now that I’ve seen this new R-rated trailer I have every confidence that this will be a classic. Anyone who thinks it’s possible to have too many penis jokes in a movie is clearly dead wrong.

I just saw the free screening of this last night at the Santa Monica 7. Holy shit guys its amazing! I can’t tell you how fun/funny it was to go see this. Michael Cera is a genius, “McLovin” will now become a huge star, and Jonah Hill.. well.. he was completely over the top but I dugg it. However, I was with a girl who loves Freaks & Geeks/Arrested Development/Undeclared and she proclaimed that the jokes became too vulgar (’specially from Hill). I cannot vouch for the female voice on this one, but what I can say is that it definitely knocked me up. A+
