Grindhouse 2: Machete and The Babysitter Twins?

Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse, was a pretty wild idea and a fun night out for any self-respecting movie geek. Unfortunately, in the end, the box office numbers reflected the fact that it really was a niche film rather than a mainstream blockbuster, leaving many shocked that two of the biggest directors working today failed to fill seats at the cineplexes. So does this mean that we won’t see any more homages to old school horror and exploitation flicks from them anytime soon?

Well, those familiar with Rodriguez and Tarantino know that they always seem to have their next two or three projects dreamed up ahead of time, and you better believe that they’ve given some thought to another Grindhouse flick. In fact, a recent interview with Electra & Elise Avellan (aka The Babysitter Twins) reveals that Rodriguez might be planning a double-bill of his own:

“Robert said he’d do it and asked for us to be in it… [He] wants to do Grindhouse 2 with Machete and The Babysitter Twins. Robert mentioned something about the end of the world and Hollywood action films, where we’d be trained in Mexico to come back here and fight.”

So there you have it, the latest scoop on what may or may not end up being a Grindhouse sequel. Unfortunately, with so many ideas floating around in their heads, you never know which ones will stick. But a Babysitter Twins standalone movie… sure I’d be up for it. Would you?

  1. Personally I’d like to see two new directors tackle the double feature. Tarantino and Rodriguez already kicked this genre’s ass in my opinion, so I want to see some new blood try it out.

  2. By “kicked this genre’s ass”, do you mean they did a good job or a bad job?

  3. I loved Death Proof but honestly Planet Terror sucked so bad that I’ll never see another movie done by that guy. Death Proof was a work of art where the other was a lame story, lame filming just lame. When they put the two movies together on Demand nobody (including me) wanted to rent it, so they put them a part, and I was like finally I can watch Death Proof without having to even think about that other peice of crap. Honestly QT should lose that guy, hes not a very good writer or director. Hes a one hit wonder. If those two make another Grindhouse I’ll wait to only see QT part, peace

  4. Oh and yes Pan’s Labrith sucked so bad it confirmed that I’ll never see another movie by this guy

  5. FYI: I don’t think Robert Rodriguez or QT were involved in the making of Pan’s Labrith.

  6. Don’t mind this guy, Sean. He’s obviously harmless.
