Wolverine Spin-Off Gets A Director

Well after months of speculation, it appears that 20th Century Fox have finally named a director for another of their upcoming X-Men spin-off flicks, Wolverine — and trust me when I say, it’s not someone you’d expect. A while back we heard that Len Wiseman and D.J. Caruso were vying for the opportunity to helm the movie, but in the end, neither of them landed the gig. Instead the honour will go to South African director Gavin Hood, the man behind the critically acclaimed Tsotsi, and the upcoming Rendition. It was a sneak preview of his latest film that reportedly won over the execs at Fox. I have to give them credit for taking a chance on a younger filmmaker like Hood, but will he turn Wolverine into a boring art house drama? Either way, I’m looking forward to this a lot more than Goyer’s Magneto movie. Wolverine starts production in November and will hit theatres sometime in 2008.

  1. Interesting!

Looking forward to this movie now… This will make the movie worthwhile beyond just being a vehicle I think. Definitely way more interesting than David Goyer.
