Film Junk Episode 126: Live on Talkshoe Tomorrow at 7 pm EST

Hey guys, this week’s Film Junk Podcast will be recorded tomorrow (Sunday) at 7 pm EST. As usual, we’ll be broadcasting live via the interweb using Talkshoe, so be sure to head over there and join in the discussion tomorrow if you’re going to be around. Here are the topics planned for discussion:

- Review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Top 5 Movies involving Magic and/or Witchcraft
- Versus: Spider-Man vs X-Men
- Trailer Trash
- Junk Mail
- and more!

On a related note, we haven’t been very consistent with the time of our live broadcasts, and we’re working on finding a good schedule that we can all commit to a regular basis. If there are days and times on the weekend that work best for you, let us know what your preference is. Thanks, and hope to see you guys tomorrow! (In the meantime send all junk mail, voice mail or general topics for discussion to filmjunk@gmail.com).

  1. I really like FilmJunk (obviously no big fan of the Goon and his taste but still) and I’m a big fan of having a set-in-stone time for doing the podcast. At the time I have no way to actually participate or even listen to the live transmissions, but whenever I get my computer shit together I’ll be active again, and a set time would be much appreciated at that point. I guess sunday at 7pm (which would be sunday 1am for me) is no big deal, especially in the fall since the NFL is on at that time and I’d probably be able to multitask that stuff.

  2. when I’m done learning Flash I need to make a game of me and Henrik as rock em sock em robots that fight over movies.

  3. I’ll wield the monkeybone from 2001 and Alex’s stick from ACO, and you can charge with a hairy rat and a guitar. Gimme Shelter could be your victory hymn and Also Sprach Zarathustra could be mine. I’d play that.

  4. hi guys, i’ve been listening to filmjunk for a few weeks now and enjoy it. keep it up! i may try to listen live this time.

  5. I’d make your robot spout out phrases like “Godfather 3 is vastly superior to Godfather 1 & 2″ and “Ben Kingsley isn’t much of an actor”

  6. That would be pretty funny actually. I haven’t seen Godfather 3 though, since I found the first one pretty mediocre.

  7. I rest my case :P

anyways Sean, if Greg’s taking off to the PPV tonight and you need a third, I’ll open Skype. if not thats cool, I’ll just join the talkshoe group.

  8. oh wait, the ppv is next week. hah, nevermind :P

  9. Just finished listening to the whole show and that psychic reading was fuckin hilarious! Try editing a jingle for that part Sean.

  10. I missed the show this week because I didn’t realize it was happening today at 7pm. I guess that means it would be good to have a set time. I don’t really have a preferred time for the show to happen because I never have a set schedule, but if you guys set a definite time, then I can remember to get on TalkShoe around then. I’ll be absent for the next two weeks, though, because I’ll be at the beach in North Carolina, then from there I’m headed straight to the San Diego Comic Con to try and find me some work drawing comics and meet Warren Ellis and Travis Charest. I’ll probably take lots of pictures of girls in skimpy outfits, too. If they didn’t want people to take pictures of their asses, they wouldn’t wear costumes that show them off…that’s all I’m sayin’.

  11. good show. I can tell Harry Potter in general simply isnt up Jay’s alley. Sean on the other hand, I dont know. I felt to some degree maybe you were playing the ‘review what you wanted’ line to an extent… I mean, I just cant say enough good things about the Dolores Umbridge character. maybe if you listened to the Filmspotting podcast this week you’d understand why in this case I could really get behind the politics of it.

and for the record, I for the most part had no problem with the politics in the Star Wars prequels either. I like politics :/ – and I’ve never held the original trilogy to a high enough level for me to be offended by so many of the things that irked people about those movies.

  12. I really wanted to like this movie, but I just felt like nothing all that important happened in it. The Dolores Umbridge character was okay, but as the main “villain” of the film, she hardly compares to Voldemort. I mean, I can appreciate that it made Harry step up and “start the rebellion” as the tagline says, and it is a part of his coming of age story. One thing that was especially weak in the film was there was an important plot point involving Harry and the girl he has a crush on and Umbridge, and the way it played out was very confusing and not nearly as emotional as it should have been.
