Do people not buy DVDs in the summer? I’m not sure why the releases have been so slow lately. Perhaps the studios don’t want to distract people from their big blockbusters in theatres. This week’s trickle of major releases include the family sci-fi adventure The Last Mimzy, Billy Bob Thornton in The Astronaut Farmer, and the second season of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s Extras. Also available are Police Beat, the debut feature from Robinson Devor (director of the horse sex documentary Zoo), and Thunderpants, another movie starring Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint about a boy who has powerful farts that can send him into space (no, I’m serious). How can you resist?
