The Last Legion Trailer Starring Ben Kingsley
Nowadays whenever Ben Kingsley is the biggest name starring in a movie, you’ve gotta be at least a little bit worried. The guy has been involved with a lot of stinkers lately, and this faux-historical epic The Last Legion doesn’t look any different. In fact, it looks to be about on par with Uwe Boll’s Bloodrayne. To be fair, Kingsley isn’t the only recognizable face in the film… Colin Firth (Bridget Jones’s Diary) and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai (Dhoom 2) are along for the ride as well. The problem with a historical epic that has no actors and no budget is that it inevitably comes off feeling pretty hokey. There is a small part of me that thinks this could be fun, but unfortunately I don’t think it will be campy enough to redeem itself. The Last Legion is directed by Doug Lefler (Dragonheart: A New Beginning). It is scheduled to hit theatres on August 24th, but I have a feeling this will be quietly rushed to DVD immediately afterwards.

Posted by Steven on July 6th, 2007I agree that you’re completely right on the Ben Kingsley bit but I have to admit, after seeing the trailer twice, I still can’t spot the guy. I did, however recognize Firth and Rai (though not from Dhoom 2) and though it looks completely cheesy, I’ll give them my money.
