Brad Pitt Starring in Bullitt Remake?

I’m not sure how accurate this next story is, but it’s certainly a big deal if it is true. Monsters & Critics are reporting that Brad Pitt is slated to star in a remake of the 1968 Steve McQueen film Bullitt, long heralded for having one of the best car chase scenes ever committed to celluloid. Apparently this is a dream project of his that has been percolating since 2003; it is only now moving ahead because of an impending strike from the Screen Actor’s Guild. It all sounds a little sketchy to me, but I’m guessing it won’t be long before we learn whether these reports have any substance to them. Bullitt is certainly a movie that a lot of people hold in high regard, and since the original is still just as enjoyable to watch today, they’re going to have to come up with some decent justification for recreating a classic. Then again, after the Transformers, I’m sure a lot of moviegoers will be doubly eager to see another feature length car commercial up on the big screen.

  1. ERRRR!!! Make your own original damn movie for christ sake, don’t “update/modernize” a classic. Next we will hear they are remaking Casablanca and Citizen Kane. This Sucks big time.

  2. This movie would only be cool if they set it in the future on some kind of crazy neo-noir sci-fi cityscape (so the inevitable hoovercar chase would be something more than just a tour of San Francisco).

  3. another lack of inspiration? where has creativity gone?
