Hitman Teaser Trailer Sneaks Onto The Web
I haven’t ever played any of the Hitman video games, so maybe that’s why I wasn’t overly excited about the announcement that they were making a movie based on the franchise. On the other hand, maybe the reason I wasn’t excited is because video game movies are complete garbage! I mean, seriously, someone is going to have to really do something special before they can convince the general public that these flicks are worth seeing. And judging by the teaser trailer, this movie is not doing anything special at all. In fact, this may be one of the most uninteresting trailers for an action movie I’ve ever seen. I realize it’s just a teaser, but we don’t see anything except a guy shooting a gun a couple of times and an explosion or two. How is this supposed to get anyone interested? Oh, but they’re playing some opera music so I guess he is a classy killer. They obviously think the name of this movie alone is going to be enough to attract attention. I’m not so sure. And what’s with some of the phrases that pop up in this trailer? “Protected by divinity”? Gimme a break. Hitman stars Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood) and is directed by Xavier Gens (second unit director on Van Damme’s Maximum Risk). The only thing that could save it is the fact that Luc Besson is producing. Would Vin Diesel have been a better choice for the lead role? Check out the trailer over at /Film or JoBlo.com now. Hitman hits theatres on October 12th.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m tired of my action films looking so damn clean and polished. I hate it when there’s a gun fight going on but everything is stainless steel and jet black and bright, fluorescent white. This looks like it’s got the same visual style as films like Underworld, Ultraviolet, and Aeon Flux. Why do all action movies have to look like this these days? Live Free Or Die Hard looks a bit like this as well. Does every movie have to be tinted blue and have a scene in a medical facility with walls and instruments so white that they practically glow? Like I said, maybe it’s just me. Then again, the only thing about this movie that I’ve found at all interesting so far is the inclusion of Timothy Olyphant. I’ve loved that guy since the first time I saw Go.
