New To Theatres This Weekend: June 15, 2007
Let the fanboy chatter commence! Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer may not be the most anticipated comic book movie of the year, but it has certainly been one of the most hotly debated. Currently it is sitting at a positively rotten 26% on Rotten Tomatoes… do you care? Are you going to see it anyway? I’m kind of curious to see how this Nancy Drew movie does, considering the marketing campaign has been pretty low key. And what about the next big video game abomination, DOA: Dead or Alive? The Weinsteins seem a little tentative on it as they’ve only given it a limited release, but hey… it’s getting better reviews than Fantastic Four!

if fantastic four could have even made around 50% on rottentomatoes, I might have gone. i cant believe they brought back the same hack director for the second after what people said about the first. what the fuck were they thinking? did they really think he had a unique touch that people would miss?
anyways, so i went to see Oceans 13 instead, and it was awesome. I had only seen Oceans 12 for the first (and second) time a couple days before. i dont understand the mixed rap 12 had, is it just because its more avant garde and not in Vegas? it was still sharp and funny, and of the three movies its easily the best looking, and best shot. I’d say though overall 13 has been the best of the 3 for me, simply based on the overall story, how it flew by and was easiest to follow regardless of it being just as complex con-wise.

Posted by Rian on June 15th, 2007Ratatouille sneak previewed in many theaters last night, and so far the reviews coming out of it are extremely ecstatic, even by Pixar standards. one review on Rotten Tomatoes calls it an Oscar contender.
yet i have this feeling that it wont perform as well at the box office as some of the others, simply because the basic premise isnt as appetizing (ho ho ho puns!)
