Anton Corbijn’s Joy Division Biopic Control Trailer Online
I’ve been hearing a lot of conflicting reports about Anton Corbijn’s upcoming Joy Division/Ian Curtis biopic Control ever since it premiered at Cannes. Both Variety and The Guardian offered positive reviews, but Ray Bennett at The Hollywood Reporter labelled it a “disappointment”. I certainly love the look of the film, and the decision to shoot entirely in black and white captures the mood and visual aesthetic of the band to a “T”. However, I did see a clip from the film a while back that made me question the acting and the dramatic weight behind it all. A few trailers for the movie have been popping up on YouTube lately and getting pulled down. This one (linked below) seems to have been up for a while now, so hopefully it won’t get removed. You do have to put up with French subtitles across the screen, but at least you can get some sense of what the movie will be like. Control still does not have a release date set, but stay tuned to the film’s official site for updates.

That’s a long trailer. You know I usually hate movies like this but I think I’ll get a real kick out of this one. Probably because it’ll have a Killers soundtrack.
