Shoot ‘Em Up Trailer Starring Clive Owen

So what exactly are we supposed to think about a movie called Shoot ‘Em Up? The title alone pretty much screams style over substance, and coming from b-movie writer/director Michael Davis (Monster Man, Girl Fever, Double Dragon), it certainly doesn’t look like high quality cinema. On the other hand, I like Clive Owen a lot, and I particularly love movie trailers that feature “Kickstart My Heart” by Motley Crue. The idea behind this one is that Clive Owen is a stranger who saves a newborn baby and his mother during a shootout, and protects them from gangsters who want her dead. I will admit that this movie could be fun, but there have been tons of these goofy action flicks coming out lately and I haven’t been interested in any of them. If you liked Lucky Number Slevin, Crank, and Smokin’ Aces, I’m sure you’ll like this as well. Is it just me or does Paul Giamatti seem out of place as the villain here? I still find it strange that he’s basically a Hollywood A-lister now. Shoot Em Up hits theatres on September 7th; check out the trailer below.

  1. “Crank” did come to mind, and if thats what they’re going for, it could be alright.

  2. Whoa whoa whoa…you can’t compare Lucky Number Slevin to Crank, can you?

  3. I actually want to see Paul Giamatti as a villain, could be something fun and….fresh maybe?

  4. I just watched this movie last night.

I absolutely loved this film. The Clive Owen character is my kind of hero. I absolutely identify with him.

I thought the dialog was clever in a fan boy sense, not in an intellectual way.

  5. I always thought you were the British nanny type.
