Thundercats Movie Will Be Animated, Not Live Action

Well this makes a little more sense. After yesterday’s story broke about Warner Bros and Spring Creek Productions developing a live action Thundercats movie, a lot of people seemed understandably puzzled as to how this could work without being completely absurd. The LA Times is now reporting that contrary to early reports, the movie will not be live action, but rather completely CG. This puts it more in line with the films coming out of Hong Kong-based production house Imagi, who of course did the recent animated TMNT movie, and are working on a new CG film based on the Gatchaman animated series. I think there is a lot of wasted potential out there right now in the world of computer animated films, and I’m happy to see some studios moving away from all the family-friendly talking animal crap. Not that a Thundercats movie probably wouldn’t be family-friendly, and not that they aren’t technically talking animals… but you know what I mean! I am now very curious to see what comes of this project.

  2. IF the movie will be a CG… I’m sure go to theaters… but if is a LAM, forget it! will be so stupid and dumb project.

    ¿Cat-human in live action?
    They had to be kiddin’

  3. The beast in X-Men looked pretty good. Why can’t they make it live action? It could be a mix of both, for harder characters…like the buzzard dude.
