New To Theatres This Weekend – June 1, 2007
This weekend in theatres we get a break from the massive effects movies and instead have a chance to sit down with the latest comedy from Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen, Knocked Up. I think this movie will do quite well as reviews have been solid and everyone is dying for a movie that won’t let them down. Also in theatres is the new Kevin Costner film Mr. Brooks, directed by Bruce A. Evans (Kuffs), and in some theatres you can catch the soccer drama Gracie or the Lucy Liu horror/action/thriller Rise: Blood Hunter. What are you seeing?

there was a lot of skepticism of Rogen carrying this movie back when it was announced… by the reviews it seems safe so far to say it was unwarranted.

Posted by Mike on June 1st, 2007I’m seeing Quintin Tarantino’s Death Proof Grindhouse vol. 1. As much as I hate to admit it, I’ve sort of come around on this thing and I’m looking forward to getting to see it.
Posted by Henrik on June 1st, 2007I’m trying to talk a few people into going to see Mr. Brooks with me. I hate to go to the theater alone, so it will all depend on getting someone else to go. My interest in this film (sadly) boils right down to wanting to see if Dane Cook can pull off this kind of role. I’ve been enjoying his stand-up less and less over the past year or two, but I think that he made Employee Of The Month a fairly watch-able film.
Posted by Rian on June 1st, 2007Why do you hate going alone? I want to see Mr. Brooks as well, it opens here in August sadly… I have no interest in Dane Cook, but I think Kevin Costner is pretty awesome and underrated, and William Hurt is one of those actors that can save a film all by himself in my opinion. Best voice in hollywood.
Posted by Henrik on June 1st, 2007I hate going to the movies alone because for me, part of the experience of going to the movies is the discussion afterwards. I hate seeing a movie in the theater and then driving home in silence afterward. I think the last time I saw a movie alone was when I saw Dogma back in 1999. I watch tons of movies alone at my home, but never in the theater.
