Matt Damon Says He’s Done with Bourne
The third Bourne movie doesn’t hit theatres until August, but Matt Damon has already made it clear that he won’t be returning for another installment, no matter how successful it is. While doing an interview to promote Ocean’s Thirteen, Damon reportedly said, “The Bourne thing I’m definitely done with”, which in theory sounds pretty conclusive. However, given that there is another Bourne book in the series after The Bourne Ultimatum (with another one hitting stores this summer) you’d have to wonder if Universal would want to throw in the towel so soon. The difference with the other books is that they were not written by Bourne creator Robert Ludlum; instead the series was continued by Eric Van Lustbader after Ludlum’s death in 2001. How’s that for a cash grab? It does beg the question though, if they do more movies without Matt Damon, who would play Jason Bourne? Any suggestions? Would you go see a Bourne movie with someone else in the lead role?

Those movies are so far off from the book that it really doesn’t matter how many books remain in the series. All they’re doing is copping the titles.
