Well after last week’s rumour about the Olsen Twins starring in the next James Bond movie, it looks like Mary-Kate has finally landed her first “grown-up” role, independent of sister Ashley. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will have a recurring role in the third season of Showtime’s comedy series Weeds. While the obvious casting choice would be to have her play some sort of junkie, it appears that instead she will play a devout Christian girl who is a love interest for Nancy’s older son Silas.

Weeds is a fantastic show, and this sounds like the perfect place for Mary-Kate to gain a little acting credibility while also distancing herself from her sister. You have to wonder though, with Mary-Kate busy advancing her career, what is Ashley up to? Is she going to be taking her turn in rehab soon? Will this spark jealousy between them? I still don’t think they’d be right for a Bond movie, but it’s looking more and more like the rumours of them at least being “considered” for Bond could very well be true.
