I personally think the original "Suspiria" is fairly overrated and ridiculous anyway, so a remake might actually be good. Given my dislike of "Undertow", however, the fact that David Gordon Green has been signed on certainly doesn't fill me with hope.

Yeah I heard about that new version of it playing at Cannes... I think that's where this announcement actually came from too. Of course, I haven't seen any version of it at all so I am not sure what language it was originally shot in.

Hey, I just read that they're releasing an Italian language version at Cannes, which is flat out bizarre. I wonder if Argento bucked the trend and filmed it with the non-Italian actors reading their lines in Italian, or if this is just a mix-up of some sort. Oh, well.

Most Italian movies of the period were post-dubbed, which was used when the actors involved had varied nationalities and didn't share a common language. Instead, the actors would phonetically read their lines (usually in English) and either they or other actors would dub in their lines later. This is why Clint Eastwood is dubbed in the English versions of his Leone films.

Long story short, I assume that this was the case with Suspiria, and it's fair to say it probably wasn't an Italian language film.

And I think a clothing line based on Argento's films would be killer, though I'd choose a Bava line anyday.
