Battlestar Galactica Season 4 Will Be The Last One
I am a reformed Battlestar Galactica addict. The critically-acclaimed show had me hooked through season 1 and part of season 2, and then it just started to fall apart. I honestly don’t understand why more people didn’t have a problem with the direction that the show took in season 3… it completely derailed in my opinion, became almost laughable and I started to hate every single character. People talk about Lost losing its way, but Battlestar just ended up going nowhere. They wrote themselves into a corner and then started all over again. I still haven’t watched more than the first few episodes of Season 3, so it’s possible that it redeems itself somewhere along the way, although I don’t plan on finding out anytime soon.
Anyway, it looks like the show’s producers have finally come to their senses and realized that they’ve got nowhere to go with this thing anymore. According to stars Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff, the fourth season will indeed bring the series to a close, just as earlier rumours had suggested. But is this because they want to stay true to the story, or is it because the show is still struggling to find an audience? They did hint that the show is rather expensive to produce, and that it doesn’t have the same viewership that other big budget shows usually attract. Hey, isn’t there a prequel series on the way? How do they expect that to fare any better? Luckily, Olmos says the fourth season will be the most “extraordinary” and also the most “vicious”, so maybe they can still win over some new converts. The final 22 episode run of Battlestar Galactica Season 4 will premiere on The Sci-Fi Channel sometime in January. Will you be there to see it through to the end?

i think you’re dead wrong about s3. the first 5 eps were especially amazing, they did kinda stumble a bit in the middle and had a few ’scar’ type filler episodes many could do without, but by the end of the season they were as good as ever, with maybe the best season finale i’ve seen of any show ever.
season 4 will be the last simply becasue if you’ve seen the end, you know the story is coming to a close. theres no way they could make more than one season after the place they’re at now in the story (and in space)
Posted by Goon on May 11th, 2007Update this, Sean. David Eick, one the show runners for BSG, said this is not the first time Olmos has said this, and that no decision has been made regarding the futue of the show beyond season 4.

Posted by Dave on May 12th, 2007Hmmm well then maybe it will just be the last season with Olmos … which would essentially make it the last season since EJO is the freakin’ man!
Posted by Ian on May 13th, 2007season 3 had a lot of lame storylines that i think were an attempt at writing character stories rather than action thriller plots.
Posted by nehpets on May 16th, 2007my friend dubbed it battlestar 90210 during season 3, i was just dying for something interesting to happen. finally, it does, they do know how to write good cliffhangers.
i’m willing to forgive the 2/3rds crap season 3… i’m excited to see the end, i think i’m a cylon.
I think season 3 rushed some storylines and draged other’s. There also should have been more viper fight scenes. Even though the season draged in the middle it still started off strong and ended strong. I cant wait till season 4 it’s stil a great show.
Posted by Brent on May 18th, 2007The first two seasons focussed more on the war itself and was full of scintellating action and eye candy, the 3rd season focussed a lot more closely on the politics and the human equation, became a lil bit too star trek in my mind. i mean lets see some eye candy and some more ass kicking.. who gives a frakk about gaius baltar anyways, shoot the prick….love love

i think one of the reasons i had no problem with season 3 is as much as the fighting scenes are cool, it really is the internal politics and character drama that has me on the show. the only problem i had in season three was a couple episodes where we spent just plain too much time on the Cylon Basestar, which looked like it came out of LEXX.
that said, many of the episodes fans hate the most (like “Black Market”) I loved, partially because on DVD I dont have to wait in between weeks because of ‘filler’ episodes.
Posted by Goon on March 5th, 2008in season3 there where the best fighting scenes i have ever seen in a series with “Star” in it`s name …
anyway the show must end becouse they realy don`t can`t go anywhere exept of finding a home
but i love bsg and i will realy miss it
