Terminator 4, 5 and 6 On The Way
When it comes to the Terminator franchise, I really think they should have quit while they were ahead. I thought Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines was okay in the sense that it wasn’t a complete embarassment and at least it was still connected through Arnold’s involvement. That said, it really should have been a sign to leave things alone from here on in. Instead, it appears that Terminator producers Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna have decided to sell the franchise while it still holds some value and get the hell outta dodge. The series will now be taken over by The Halcyon Co., who are immediately moving forward on a Terminator 4 film without the involvement of Arnold Schwarzenegger or James Cameron.
I don’t know much about The Halcyon Co., but assuming it is the same company that owns Halcyon Entertainment, they are also the ones producing the upcoming House of Re-Animator movie. I really don’t think this bodes well for the future of the franchise. The script for T4 was written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris, the same people who did Terminator 3 (and also Catwoman) and it will focus on John Connor in his 30’s leading the human race to war against the machines. No word on whether or not Nick Stahl would reprise his role, but I don’t think it matters at this point. Halcyon will also have the rights to produce any future Terminator projects, and it seems they intend to make a whole new trilogy. This, combined with The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show, will really water the Terminator franchise down. Pretty soon it’s going to be on the same level as Stargate, Robocop and other sci-fi franchises that have milked beyond milking and completely run into the ground. Sad, but inevitable I suppose.

what a complete joke – i truly wish filmmakers could learn to have closure when closure is due!

Posted by daburf on May 10th, 2007t2 not too bad, worth owning to watch on a rainy day
t3 never should have been made, period.
The funny thing is that while I have absolutely no interest in more movies, I’m curious about the TV show.
Posted by Marina on May 10th, 2007they definitely should not of made a third flick, so i cant see 3 more will be any better.
Posted by Chopper Sr. on May 10th, 2007yeah the tv show might actually be worth checking out. there just aren’t any tv shows out there of much interest – except Heroes of course. hopefully a decent affiliate picks up the pilot. many say the spin-off’s somehow lessen the quality of the original film they’re based on but i think “terminator” stands on its on – whether the tv show is a flop or not.
Posted by daburf on May 11th, 2007i completely disagree. there have been many excellent sci-fi series that have been canceled due to people like you. Lets wait and see what its like before condeming it to death. The only reason i would not watch it at this point is due to fox’s intention to exculde Ron Paul from a upcoming debate of theirs which i find completly unacceptable so i have engaged in a boycott of the network. And i talk to a LOT of people too….Fox get your stuff straight or your gonna go the way of WB in the next year.
