New To Theatres This Weekend – May 4, 2007

Do I really need to remind you what’s hitting theatres this weekend? Certainly Spider-Man 3 is one of the most anticipated flicks of 2007, and so far the reviews have been… not that hot. Either way, I still pity the poor sap who gets talked into taking his date to see Lucky You instead. I mean, seriously… who is going to see that? Let’s get the Spider-Man 3 discussion going now — if you’ve seen it, what did you think? We’re seeing it tonight, so I should have a review up by tomorrow hopefully.

  1. I saw it wednesday at midnight and I thought it was ON PAR with the second one. The movie is definitely awesome.

  2. Saw it this a.m. Definitely awesome. Of the three, I would have to say this is my favorite. The second fell kind of flat for me. Venom is spectacular. Topher is great as Brock/Venom. Sandman, the same. It felt a bit long (Gwen Stacey’s whole story line is up for debate as far as I’m concerned). Will be interesting to hear your thoughts. My review will be up tomorrow.

  3. Thanks guys, I still have high hopes for it myself. In my mind, the only flaw in the first two films were the villains, and now we have three (!) solid villains in this one. I guess it’s just a question of whether or not you can have too much of a good thing.

  4. most of the reviews say the film is overstuffed, which could be true. even Raimi seems to be apologizing for it.

    regardless, no matter what you guys think of it when your review comes around, i BEG of you – if you have an overall positive experience with it, actually talk about what you enjoyed about the film, because even the positive reviews seem to be mostly picking at what they dont like. it would be nice to see this site at least balance out the good and the bad.
